Heinrich Boll Foundation Bachelor,Masters & PhD Scholarships for International Students, Germany

Application Deadline: 1 September

The Heinrich Böll Foundation awards scholarships to German and foreign students in keeping with the guidelines provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA). The scholarship covers Bachelors, Masters, and PhD studies.
Host Institution(s):
State or state-recognized institution of higher education (university, college or equivalent) in
Germany, Switzerland or in a member state of the EU.

Fields of study:
Selected priority fields of study. In addition to their current focus on Humanities and Social Science as well as Fine Arts and Cultural Studies, the Foundation, in the future, be extending their scholarship to as yet under-represented specialist subjects such as Economics, Law, Engineering, Media Science and Natural Science.

Target group:

International students and Germans. The foundation especially supports young people from countries in the South as well as from Eastern Europe. The foundation also especially supports young women in those subjects where, to date, they have been under-represented.

Eligibility:
The following general requirements apply to foreign applicants (except EU citizens) who wish to study in
Germany:
• You must be enrolled at a state-recognized university or college (e.g. Fachhochschule) in
Germany at the time the scholarship payments begin.
• You should provide proof that you have already graduated with an initial professional qualification. This programme mainly supports students aiming for a Masters degree.
• You need a good knowledge of German, and we kindly ask you to provide proof of your proficiency. Please note that the selection workshop (interviews, group discussions) will normally be in German. Exceptions (interview in English) are, however, possible.
• Unfortunately, the current guidelines specify that we can not support foreign scholarship holders for stays abroad in third countries for more than four weeks.
The following requirements apply to all German and non-German students wishing to pursue a Masters degree or post-graduate studies:
• You should definitely apply for a scholarship before the start of your studies, in order to ensure long-term support and cooperation.


HEC - EGIDE/ EIFFEL Scholarships

Application Deadline: End of November each year (after enrollment confirmation).

The Eiffel Scholarship is designed to bolster international recruiting by French schools of higher education, at a time when competition to attract top foreign students is growing among developed countries. HEC reserves the right to submit only those candidates it feels best qualify for the Eiffel Scholarship as the award is particularly competitive and prestigious. Note that applications from students currently studying outside France will be given priority over those from students already studying in France.

Eligibility:

The HEC MBA Program applies on behalf of admitted eligible students. In order to be eligible the candidate must be:

  • Be aged 30 years old or less in the selection year
  • Have a single nationality from a developing country deemed an 'emerging country' by the French state department, especially those in Asia and Latin America, for example, currently under-represented among the student population in France

Selection Criteria:

Candidates wishing to apply for the Eiffel Scholarship must write an essay, describing how the scholarship will help them achieve their long-term career goals. They should explain what they aim to achieve from the MBA program and how they will implement this in their future career. As it is offered by the French Government, candidates should address issues such as why they are studying in France.

Amount of Award:

The Eiffel Scholarship provides participants with a monthly allowance of €1,031, and covers additional expenses including travel, health insurance and cultural activities. Tuition fees are not covered by the scholarship.

Erasmus Mundus Master’s And PhD Scholarships

Erasmus Mundus is a European cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with non-European countries. As one line of action the Erasmus Mundus programme is offering Master’s and PhD scholarships for selected courses offered jointly by at least two European universities and ranging from agricultural and forestry sciences through business and law studies to natural sciences and engineering. There are more than 100 Master’s courses and 13 joint doctoral programmes, many of which involve German universities and open a door to fully funded postgraduate studies in Germany.
